Photography Project

For the new year I thought I'd start a photography project.

I've called it "a room with a view" because its based on daily photos from the same room at approximately the same time every day.

A Room With a View Project on Flickr.

This project is ongoing to see if the landscape really does change as much as it sometimes feels.

Passions ~ Alternative Lifestyle

There's much to be said about the lifestyle we choose to lead. For many years I've chosen to follow an alternative lifestyle, my general aim since I was at primary school was to not fit into a niche as I didn't anyway that wasn't too difficult. Those bullies did me a favour when I was that young.

I chose to follow a varied path of recycling and reusing, fashion that doesn't really fit any genre and that goes for most of my life. I don't fit those little tick boxes that people try to fill when they first meet you. It's meant life's been a bit lonely at times, but worth it to know that I'm being true to myself.

Be true to yourselves

Yay!

Flu almost gone :)

This means I've actually been able to have a bath today, check my emails & play with my son. It's been rather pleasant.

I downloaded SpamDrain for my iPhone yesterday and then I wondered what happened to all the emails that usually flood in throughout the day. I generally get up to 100 emails a working day and I was expecting a special one yesterday that didn't come through. I had another look at the SpamDrain app and there it was, bold as brass, staring at me as if to say "where have you been all these hours?". I'm trying to ascertain how to cancel the account using the iPhone, but having major trouble between hot & cold flushes, sneezing, and passing out exhausted.

Maybe I'll have another go tomorrow, tomorrow's another, brighter day :)

Eugh!

I had plans to do some work today, but I've been struck with flu. I can do some bits & pieces that don't require me moving any part of me (like this blog post). It sucks slightly & I'm finding it frustrating. I'm trying to stay upbeat & positive about it, like it'll be gone in two or three days, but its very difficult when you can't really move much without being in lots of pain.

Anyone with some pleasant flu remedies, feel free to post in comments. Best I've read online so far are classics that I already knew about like, warm drinks, gargle saltwater & similar. I'm contemplating taking some kind of pain relief, but struggling moving to go bathroom, let alone hunting for pain killers.

Passions ~ Magic

The way I've always approached life is via those things I'm passionate about, some of which I'll be sharing with you now.
Magic has always featured in my life in many ways. I've always felt that there is magic surrounding each and every one of us & this connects us all, some cultures call this an aura.
When I was a young girl, my life was all about stories, books and fantasy. There was always something spectacularly magical in every story I was read or read myself. From the Christian Bible, to Aesops Fables, to Kipling, to Enid Blyton, these were stories and fables and lessons that all had a meaning behind them and all contained some element of magic and belief.
If you believe in something enough, you can make it happen. I've tried it over many years and its worked. You have to be focused and in a stable state of mind, but it works. A great example of that it The Secret, the infamous book and film, but in more recent years I discovered an author Stephen Richards who is one of only two Master Cosmic Ordering practitioners in the world at present. A concept which really resonates with me. Like ordering online, but with the universe. In many of Stephen's books he explains in detail the best ways to achieve your goals and dreams.
Other books I have dotted about currently are books like Spells, Charms, Talismans and Amulets by Pamela Ball. In this book you can discover, from a more Pagan/Wiccan perspective, how to achieve your goals and dreams by using a different type of ritual to the aforementioned. Gypsy Magic by Patrinella Cooper is also on a similar vein.
I have several books of herbal medicine, crystal healing, aromatherapy and other alternative medical healing as my mother has been poorly on and off since I was ten years old, it helped me help her and its also helped me. I used to find this quite enlightening, being able to help others, but I did learn recent to be careful who you're helping and what their motives are behind it. I'm a naturally trusting person and I judge everyone at face value, I'm beginning to learn that not everyone is who they initially seem and so I'm treading much more cautiously with people. I've been burnt many times and, in some cases, dealing with the consequences is a lifelong job.
Either way, as long as I can find magic in every small thing that I do, it'll create a natural magical aura for me and those connected to me to make the bigger changes happen.
Magic is my passion because it can change lives and if you believe in something enough, you can make it happen.

My Passions ~ Photography

The way I've always approached life is via those things I'm passionate about, some of which I'll be sharing with you now.
I adore photography and don't mind whether I'm good at it or not. It's something I really love doing. It started when I was a young girl and my dad and grandad were both crazy about photography with whatever the best camera they could afford at the time (from a 110 instant camera to a top of the range camera). I was usually their model as a child, I'm an only child and an only grandchild. My dad first let me take photos when I was about 4 years old, holding a really heavy camera with a crazy-big lens, I'm surprised I didn't drop it. That first photo was supposed to be of my mum. Back in the days before digital photography, we had to send the film off to get developed. A week or so later, a Trueprint envelope dropped through the door. Much to my distress, the photo I'd taken of my mum was headless... I'd misaligned the shot totally. My parents reassured me that it was alright. My dad popped the photo in the photo album & attached a black & white magazine photo of Jasper Carrott's head where my mum's head should have been. This is when I realised how creative photography can be and started me on a whole new journey.
